Balgandharva Movie

Sunday was the superb day for me as me and my brother watched movie 'Balgandharva'.

Balgandharva is based on classical music singer Narayan Shripad Rajhans. He was also an actor in marathi plays which were very popular during late 80's and mid 90's. Narayan as a child sung in front of Lokmaya Tilak the then freedom fighter and hearing to Narayan's song one day he bestowed him with new name "Balgandharva". Gandharva means the singer who sings in the 'darbar' of Indra - The King of Gods.

Narayan was so beautiful that he used to perform the roll of lady actresses in the plays since at those times women were not allowed to act in plays. Even they were prohibited to come out of the house. Balgandharva used to perform the lady characters in the plays.

In this feature film, Subodh Bhave has played the lead role of Balgandharva and he has done it so well that he deserves a national award. The other actors include Vibhavari Deshpande, Suhas Joshi, Kishore Kadam, Avinash Narkar, Manoj Joshi, Abhijit Kelkar. These actors have also given their best.

This is a superb feature film and each and every important incident in Balgandharva's life has been pin-pointed so nicely and accurately that when the movie ends we need to tell our mind that we are in 21st Century. The sets crafted by Nitin Chandrakant Desai's team are too good. Especially , the set of Mayasabha.

Thanks Nitin Desai and Subodh Bhave as well as the whole team for giving us such a good film.
Hats off to all of you.....

Raigad Pradakshina

Thanks to my dear friend Mandar P as he was ready to come with me for ' Raigad Pradakshina '. i had been many times to the fort before but this experience was first kind in which I enjoyed the joy of being Marathi and I am very lucky to say that "I am proud of MAHARASHTRA" as well as "INDIA". This is the only country where you can feel nostalgic. The nature was so good, we took about 6 hours to complete the whole round. Kiran Shelar is a good guy of history. If you want any information about Marathas history he can tell you within seconds and the photos he had captured in his mobile of Vikramgad was awful. Also he gave us new vision to see towards history........... I can say that and now busy with collecting information about Maratha Empire.

Kailash Manasarovar Yatra - A journey touching your soul

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar 15th August 2016 was a special day for me. Not because I was in Delhi for Independence Day, but for one reason that all the people wait in their lifetime. I had applied for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Government of India and my application was accepted. When i received the mail confirming acceptance of my application, heaven was 7 fingers high from me. It is literally heaven. People believe that Mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva, the god in Hindu mythology. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not only travel or tour but a spiritual journey which calms your soul. The approximately 200 kms of trek takes you through the scintillating natural journey of the dense forests. The natural beauty of the journey is the key element of the trek. You cannot remove your eyes from the numerous tress of different variety, family, etc. Many of them are of medicinal use and many of them poisonous. The ITBP briefing clearly states that do not touch anything d
Bioscopewala Image Courtesy: Indian Express Website Some 10 years back, I read a book titled "Short stories by Rabindranath Tagore". One of the stories in the book was "Kabuliwallah". The story was very short but it had all the ingredients a story needs. The emotions, the laugh, the humour, the hatred, the love, etc. It was a story of a man from Kabul, who used to sell the nuts and raisins he use to bring from Kabul, Afghanistan. Set in late 1800s or early 1900s it had all the emotions before the India was freed from the British Rule. The story is narrated in such a way that you can literally feel the streets of Calcutta. The story takes you through the relationship between Kabuliwallah and the sweet girl named Mini who he meets while selling his nuts and raisins. The relation between both of them is warm and friendly. One day when father of Mini sees police taking away Kabuliwallah in the jail and is charged for a murder. After completing his jail term (most
