Sunday was the superb day for me as me and my brother watched movie 'Balgandharva'. Balgandharva is based on classical music singer Narayan Shripad Rajhans. He was also an actor in marathi plays which were very popular during late 80's and mid 90's. Narayan as a child sung in front of Lokmaya Tilak the then freedom fighter and hearing to Narayan's song one day he bestowed him with new name "Balgandharva". Gandharva means the singer who sings in the 'darbar' of Indra - The King of Gods. Narayan was so beautiful that he used to perform the roll of lady actresses in the plays since at those times women were not allowed to act in plays. Even they were prohibited to come out of the house. Balgandharva used to perform the lady characters in the plays.
